Welcome in the Steel Age !

What is important in a travel is not the starting point or the arrival, but the progress itself. I recognise among you many recipients of the gift of vision. I have myself some small measure of talent in that domain. Like you, I have seen the past and the ancient heroes; like you, I have seen the marvels the future holds - or may hold. But the art of prophecy is harsh and unreliable, and one single wrong turn in the labyrinth of History jeopardises the entire vision..

This is the story of an era where many turns were taken. Some almost doomed the Empire. Some saved it. The future shall happen, no matter what. But there are many mists before the arrival point, and destiny can be waylaid. Everything changed in the time I shall tell you about. The traditions of the Empire, more than a millenia old, were put in danger, and many were destroyed. Modernity became a drug for Rokugan, and poisoning was never far.

Two visions of the future clashed, in blood and fury. And neither turned out to be correct. But heroes stood up, this time again. No, do not say "like always". There is always a risk that no hero comes, et that the world ends. It's recognising this, precisely, that is what makes real heroes.

Me ? As always, I kept serving drinks, quite simply.
