12. The Polygraph

In the UR, electricity is used for only three tasks :
-mechanical : chemical batteries stock electric energy to make wheels turns.
-lighting.
-high speed communication : thru the Global Polygraphic Network. This network transmits two types of information : numeric (typograms), and analogical (phonograms and visiograms).

Lets take a closer look at the third domain. The Global Polygraphic Network is very vast : in the cities almost all buildings have a little polygraphy room, in recent buildings a polygraphy desk is usually found in each office. In the country side, a polygraphy room can be found in each public place and in places far from civilization at least one polygraphy desk is found in the public library. Unbelievably long cables cross seas and continents, the network is present on a global scale, although limited to UR and it's allies.

Some polygraphs have many functions, others have less versatile and hold only a few of the components detailed in the following glossary, they are mono-functional polygraphs.

Examples :
Booth Polygraph 0,125 m3 :
Analytical Engine, phonograph, keyboard, polytel, card reader/puncher.

Office Polygraph 1 m3 :
In addition to the Booth Polygraph components : polydisk reader/writer, memory band, mechanical screen, drawing-press.

Work Polygraph 2 to 10 m3 :
In addition to the Office Polygraph components : peripherals for photography, cinematography, visiography, trombinoscopy, and automatic armoires for stocking polydisks and film.
